Carlisle Cathedral are hosting the Annual School Leavers’ Services this week to celebrate and commemorate the passage from primary to secondary school for over 1,000 Year Six Cumbrian pupils.
Teachers and students from 57 schools throughout the county are attending the services, held at the Cathedral and Kendal Parish Church.
The Reverend Canon Michael Manley said: “It is a great delight to welcome up to 250 Year 6 leavers each day at the Cathedral this week and to see them engage in everything from silent prayer to aerobics. My thanks go to Andrea Armstrong, Headteacher at Kirkbampton C of E School, for organising it all and to The Cumberland Building Society for sponsoring the week.”
Nigel Taylor, Head of Marketing at The Cumberland Building Society, added: “Coming together as a community to support the young children across Cumbria as they embark on the next chapter of their lives is a special moment. Moving from primary to secondary school is that childhood milestone we can all remember, and we’re proud to be part of marking this moment for the youngest of our community.”
“We hope it encourages the hundreds of children who are involved to move forward with confidence and kindness, as they grow into the future generations of our neighbours, colleagues and friends. Good luck and best wishes to all school leavers.”
