This 13th century bell at St Mary’s Church, Outhgill in the Mallerstang valley has been restored to ringing again. The bell was hanging loosely on one cannon and had not been rung for some time. It has been rehung with a hardwood headstock and stainless steel fittings.
The team are Ron East, Diocesan Bell Advisor, David Steel, Carlisle Cathedral Tower Captain, and Nick Meadwell, contractor. Ron and David are both bell ringers at Carlisle Cathedral.
