Friday 15 August 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Japan (VJ Day), effectively bringing an end to World War Two in 1945. This occasion will be commemorated at Carlisle Cathedral with a special ringing of the bells at 6.30pm.
The Border Regiment served in Burma and was involved in several significant operations during World War Two, which makes this day particularly poignant for those local to this area.
