Our café sits at the heart of the Cathedral precinct in the footprint of the medieval cloister, with unrivalled views of the Cathedral and Precinct. A fantastic setting right in the heart of this ancient city, you can enjoy hearty food made right here in our kitchen with homemade cakes and scones, alongside a coffee, blended for us in the city by John Watt & Co.; a can of fizzy pop, made in Cumbria by Mawson’s; or enjoy a glass of wine or beer with your lunch – our exclusive ale – The 900 – is brewed up the road by the Carlisle Brewing Co.

LATE OPENINGS
The Cathedral Cafe and Bar usually remain open if there is an event taking place in the evening; you don’t need an event ticket to come along to the cafe. We have a selection of wines, Prosecco, G&T or local bottled beers; hot drinks, cakes and snacks. The cafe will close at the following times on the dates below:
Thursday 30 November: 7pm for Carlisle’s late-night shopping
Friday 1 December: 8pm for the opening of the Quirky Eclectica Christmas Fayre
Sunday 3 December: 6.30pm for the Advent Carol Service
Tuesday 5 December: 6.30pm for the Outreach Christmas Concert
Thursday 7 December: 7pm for the Outreach Christmas Concert and late-night shopping
Friday 8 December: 7.30pm for the Eden Valley Hospice Light Up A Life Service
Thursday 14 December: 7.30pm for the Cathedral Choirs’ Christmas Concert and late-night shopping

AFTERNOON TEA
Enjoy a Classic Afternoon Tea right here at the Cathedral Café or Fratry Hall*.
Our Afternoon Teas include our own homemade fruit scones (with jam and cream, of course!), a selection of finger sandwiches and bitesize treats all made right here in our own kitchen, all served with a lovely pot of tea. You can also make your day extra-special with our new Afternoon G&T (including a selection of locally-made gin and tonic) or celebrate with or Prosecco option!
