It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Armstrong, Head Verger at Carlisle Cathedral since 1990. James passed away very peacefully at Eden Valley Hospice in the early hours of the 28 May 2025.
The funeral service will take place at Carlisle Cathedral on Friday 13th June 2025 at 11.00am followed by a private cremation at Carlisle Crematorium. No flowers. Donations welcomed to be divided between Carlisle Cathedral and the Eden Valley Hospice. All enquiries to Hills Undertakers, Wigton 016973 42635. The Cathedral Cafe will be closed all day, and the Cathedral office will be closed for the duration of the service.
