Salary:            £23,000 – £25,000 depending on experience

We are looking for an entrepreneurial Café Manager, who shares our passion for good food and great coffee, to help us launch a stunning new 60 covers-café, with spectacular views across the Cathedral’s historic precinct.

Ideally, you’ll have at least two years’ experience of working independently and managing a team. You’ll be a great communicator and motivator, liaising closely with the Head Chef and back of house team, whilst delivering great customer service and a five-star experience to all our customers.

You’ll be hands-on, with strong food and coffee retail knowledge and your responsibilities will include:

  • scheduling all staff and managing FOH staff; ensuring everyone upholds our values and principles;
  • managing all aspects of daily FOH preparation for opening and closing, including billing/cashing;
  • managing all operational procedures and processes including the highest standards of hygiene, health and safety, licensing, stock control, waste management, delivery procedures and cleaning schedules;
  • endorsing and implementing within the café the Cathedral’s safeguarding policies in respect of children and vulnerable adults.

This post is full time, 37.5 hours per week, working on a shared rota of weekend working and public holidays. Benefits include a competitive salary, pension scheme and free parking.

We are looking for an experienced and talented Head Chef to help us launch a brand-new café, set in the heart of the Cathedral’s historic precinct.

The 60-cover café will offer casual all-day dining from 8.00am to 4.30pm, with fast and efficient counter service. As Head Chef you’ll be keeping the menu changeable and interesting, creating regular special dishes, with an emphasis on seasonality and fresh, local produce.

You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the kitchen, planning new menus and developing and motivating the kitchen team. You will also be responsible for all stock, waste and cost management within the kitchen, and ensuring that all hygiene requirements are met to the highest standards. You will be working closely with a small café team, including the Café Manager, delivering great customer service and a five-star experience to all our customers.

Our ideal candidate will have the experience of working in similar fresh food kitchens and cooking for large numbers regularly. It is important that you have worked to at least Chef de Partie level in your previous roles.
