Contract: Fixed Term (2 years)

Salary: £25,000-£27,000

The Chapter (governing body) of Carlisle Cathedral is looking to appoint a full time Business Support Officer (BSO).

The postholder will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Senior Executive Assistant (SEA) and HR Officer.

The BSO is expected to handle a wide range of high-level administrative tasks and in addition the Cathedral Chapter has identified the following objectives:

  • Implementing the new governance structure and reporting introduced by the new Cathedrals Measure 2021.
  • Increased administrative and operational stability and sustainability following Charitable Status and the introduction of the new Cathedrals Measure 2021.
  • Managing successful cultural change across the organisation following the change in governance and charitable status.

They must be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to be flexible in many different situations.

Chef

Full Time, Permanent

37.5 hours per week (5 out of 7 days) working on a shared rota of weekend / evening / event working and public holidays.

£24,375 (FTE) based upon a 5-day week and dependent upon the need for event catering.

Carlisle Cathedral Enterprises Ltd is looking to appoint an experienced and talented Chef to work both in the Cathedral café and the events/catering offer.

The café offers approximately 55 covers (up to 120 with the use of the Fratry building and cloister outside) to include casual all-day dining with fast and efficient counter service.

This role requires a passionate individual with excellent organisational skills, a deep understanding and commitment to delivering exceptional service, and a creative thinker who is prepared to bring forward new ideas for income-generation. Reporting to the Café / Catering Manager, the Chef will be responsible for the preparation of all savoury and baking goods provided in the café, as well as catering for additional cathedral events.

Hours: 22.5, 30 or 37.5 hours per week (3, 4 or 5 days)

Start Date: Ideally, we are looking for a start anytime between immediate and mid-January 2024.

The Chapter (governing body) of Carlisle Cathedral is looking to recruit an HR Officer on a part- or full-time basis.

The HR Officer reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The HR Function is key to the successful operation of the Cathedral, being responsible for all employee related matters, including sourcing, safely recruiting and vetting staff and volunteers, managing and administering all employment related matters, providing advice and guidance for staff and ensuring compliance with necessary policy and legislation.

The HR Officer will be an individual who enjoys working with a wide variety of people, within a diverse environment. The successful candidate will work across all areas of the Cathedral and meet a wide variety of people, and therefore it is essential that they are able to provide a warm welcome to staff and other contacts, whilst operating at the highest professional standards.

The HR Officer will be responsible for the timely, accurate and efficient administration of the safer recruitment process, logistics, policy and procedure, handbooks, training, and record-keeping. The successful candidate will also provide additional confidential administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer.
