Did you visit Jura on the Path of Orwell – An Exhibition by Michael and Anne Batey, held in the Undercroft at the end of March?
The exhibition featured artwork was inspired by the couple’s week-long residency on the island of Jura, where George Orwell wrote “1984”. All artwork was available to purchase, with 20% of proceeds in aid of the Cathedral.
Last week Michael and Anne returned to the Cathedral to present an incredible £2,666 from the sales of their work to the Venerable Michael Everitt, Interim Dean of Carlisle, pictured below.
Our thanks go to Michael and Anne for their continued generosity and kindness. We look forward to working together again in the future, with talks already taking place for a 2027 exhibition. Watch this space!
