In accordance with the Cathedrals’ Measure 2021, Chapter is required to close the existing Cathedral Roll, which members of the Cathedral congregations had previously signed up to. We hereby give notice of this closure on Easter Sunday, 20 April 2025.
We are now required by the Cathedrals’ Measure 2021 to maintain two new Cathedral Rolls.
- A Worshippers Roll (previously referred to as the Cathedral Community Roll)
- A Community Roll (for those not eligible for inclusion in the Worshippers Roll)
Unfortunately, we are not permitted to carry forward any names from the existing Cathedral Community Roll. Therefore, we encourage you to apply for either the Worshippers Roll or the Community Roll.
Which Roll should I apply for?
The Worshippers Roll should be completed by those members of the Cathedral worshipping community who fulfil the requirements set out below:
- Who is baptised
- Who is aged 16, or over
- Who has made one of the following declarations (Section A or Section B)
- Whose application for enrolment has been granted
The Community Roll is for those who are not eligible for inclusion in the Worshippers Roll, but who are a member of the Cathedral Community, (e.g. stakeholders, staff, volunteers, committee members) and whose application for enrolment has been granted.

Alternatively, please collect an application pack from the Welcome Desk, near the Cathedral entrance. This information will be available in the Cathedral from Sunday 30 March through to Easter Sunday (20 April). Thereafter, forms can be obtained from the Cathedral Office.
Completed application forms should be returned in the envelope provided to The Cathedral Office, West Walls, Carlisle CA3 8UF or can be left at the Vergers’ Vestry.
