During the weekend of 20/21 April there will be second organ situated inside the Cathedral, due to the Cumbria Singers Concert on 20 April.
On Sunday 21 April, at the 10.30am Eucharist Service, Edward Taylor (Assistant Organist) and David T. Shingler (Organ Scholar) will be performing two duets:
- Vierne’s Messe Solennelle during the service (which requires two organs to perform it authentically)
- Variations on an Easter theme(specifically a theme called ‘O Filii et Filiae‘ – a traditional 15th century Easter melody) by John Rutter, as the closing voluntary.
This will be is a unique opportunity as it is highly unusual for an organ duet to be performed in any context. Please come along to hear them play.
