The Season included a special service for Parish Safeguarding Officers throughout the Diocese of Carlisle, which was attended by almost 100 people who hold this role; the “Souls of the Shoes” exhibition in the South Aisle of the Cathedral organised with the Mothers’ Union; and the display of the prayer tree and LOUDfence installation.
The people and stories represented by the ribbons attached to the tree and LOUDfence were prayed for at services held throughout Safeguarding Season.
As our Safeguarding Season drew to a close, our Girl Choristers also sang “Ribbons of Hope”, written by Peter Rose and Anne Conlon for survivors of abuse, at our Choral Evensong service on Thursday 24 October. You can listen to the hymn here, performed by soloist Clare Reynolds.
