Carlisle Cathedral is offering several opportunities to “shop local” this spring.
The Carlisle Farmers’ Market will take place on the first Saturday of each month from 9am – 2pm, in front of the Cathedral’s magnificent East Window. The Farmers’ Market promotes local, artisan produce, sold by the producers themselves, who care with a passion that they are selling the best, fresh, quality food.

On Friday 8 and Saturday 9 March 2024, The Cathedral will host Quirky Eclectica’s “Quirky Easter at the Fratry” event. For two days, the Fratry, Undercroft and outside Cloister area will showcase the work of small, local businesses from the surrounding area, who will be offering a huge range of hand crafted and locally made items including jewellery, home décor, and gifts. Shoppers will be welcomed from 10am until 4pm each day.
The Quirky Eclectica Market is organised by Tracey and Ashley, both of whom run businesses – Manor Barn Organics and All Things Nice by Ashley – that will feature at the event. They said, “We are so excited to be back in the Fratry. Our Christmas Fayre was a huge success, and we have lots of amazing small businesses. Come and celebrate spring with us!”
The Cathedral also has a Gift Shop on site, selling local gifts, jewellery, produce, greetings cards, souvenirs and much more. The Shop is open six days a week, Monday – Saturday, from 10am – 3.30pm. The Shop now has Fairtrade Easter Eggs in stock, as well as Easter cards and gifts. Products can also be purchased online through the Cathedral’s website shop.
