The Bishop of Penrith and the Chapter of Carlisle Cathedral have agreed that The Revd Canon Michael Manley will start a 3-month Sabbatical leave on Thursday 1st February, returning to work at the beginning of May. The Church of England encourages clergy to take extended leave and Michael is looking forward to having the space to refresh and re-charge but will not be engaging with any official cathedral duties during this time.
Michael will continue living at home in the cathedral precinct.
The Revd Dr Belinda Stanley, the cathedral curate, has kindly agreed to offer additional support and will cover some of Michael’s duties.
