You may have noticed a new object in the Cathedral this week, and we’re delighted to announce that we are taking part in Tullie Street Museum!
This week, 20 Tullie collection objects or replicas have gone out into host venues throughout the city. Hosts have been drawn from a broad spectrum of local businesses, community centres and special places, with over 170 people at Tullie and host venues involved in choosing objects for each location.
We are fortunate to showcase a beautiful Betrothal Chest, thought to be from the 1450s, which would have been given by a suitor to their betrothed on acceptance of a marriage proposal, as a symbol of hope and love. Why not pop in and have a look?
Can you find all 20 objects, and the hero object of the search – Simmonds the cat? Simmonds is a carved pine cat from the Tullie collection and is hidden somewhere in the city! Why not share your findings on social media, and don’t forget to tag Tullie in your posts.
The objects will be in host venues until 22 November. Thank you to Team Tullie for inviting us to be part of this project.
